So last night it rained.. and my tent turned into the lazy river. I’ve learned that GA weather is similar to WI. A rainstorm can come up whenever it wants to, no moment’s notice. Since I’ve been spending my sabbath moving my tent and its contents into the sun to dry for the majority of the morning if I’m being honest… writing a blog hasn’t been on the forefront of my mind. However, it’s made me realize that if this is the worst thing I’ve experienced this week, I’m truly blessed! This week has made the base feel like home, from Maggie and I having a sleep over the past few nights, to a small little Spanish worship session with Kayley and Emma last night, que our version of “Yo tengo Gozo, Gozo, Gozo” with our actions! Yesterday was also our first time encountering the outside world for the first time in 2 weeks. While the boys did their MAN HIKE (said in a deep manly voice), we went to Target and Walmart to pick up a couple needed (and not needed) things. I now have a new appreciation for flushing toilets!! The happiness that erupted as we walked into the Target bathroom, OOOOO it was like we had never seen a toilet before, and when it automatically flushed… we were in AWE 🙂 Anything that was bringing me doubt or worry last week has been absolutely abolished with the PURE JOY from Jesus! Living with 38 other people is now normal, and this nomadic, missionary lifestyle is now the only way I want to live my life. Well I hope I was able to add a little laughter into your Sunday, I should probably go check on my home.

  2. Katie Jean!
Jerry and I did indeed chuckle at your story. We’ve done our share of wilderness camping over the years so we understand the struggle of a wet tent and the joy of flush toilets. (We have even experienced joy over a pit toilet after using nothing but a shovel for a while.)
We pray that you will continue to see Jesus in all the days ahead — wet or dry.
    Much love,
    Jane
