I’d be lying if I said I knew what I wanted to do after high school even just a couple of weeks ago. It might seem a little last minute, but that’s how I roll! For the past 4 years, I have jumped from field to field trying to figure out what to do. Anywhere from being a medical examiner to an environmental scientist, and children’s ministry director, to completely relocating to a new country and nannying. No matter how many times I tried to figure out what I wanted to do, I found myself getting so stressed over something that hasn’t happened yet. I was trying to make others happy by changing the course of my life, and ultimately putting too much of my identity in trying to prove myself to others. That is until about 2 weeks ago when my youth pastor sent me a text, “I can’t believe I haven’t thought of this sooner but you should look into World Race.” Hearing “World Race” my initial thought was, what is it? The fastest person to travel the world? It piqued my curiosity and I immediately googled it. Lo and behold it was what I have been looking for… I have never hit the “apply now” button on something so quickly!
My first call with Johnny solidified my decision, however, not much convincing would have been needed. 🙂 World Race has been the first thing that hasn’t brought me stress or anxiety regarding my future and I believe that to be solely based on the fact that I have placed it 100% in God’s hands. And that alone is how I know this is where I am supposed to be. Every other plan I had in my mind I tried to take control and although I don’t want to admit it, started to push God away. World Race already feels like home, and I can’t wait to travel the world, and serve so many people while teaching them about Jesus and how He loves them! World Race combines everything I have wanted to do; serve the Lord, teach others, travel God’s beautiful Earth, and grow in myself and my relationship with Jesus!
Each day that we get closer to our launch date I get more excited, and I can’t wait to keep you all updated on the adventures, challenges, and life-changing things that will happen!
